Shelton Benjamin is set to make a long-awaited return to WWE.

According to PWInsider, the former Intercontinental, United States and Tag Team Champion has signed a deal with the company he first left in 2010.

WWE had shown interest in Benjamin last year but any negotiations were nixed after medical testing found he had a torn rotator cuff. The company had even gone as far as releasing a video hyping his return to SmackDown Live.

After nearly twelve months of rehab and recovery, the 42-year-old should be appearing in-ring imminently.

Benjamin will be fondly remembered by long-term fans, consistently impressing since his debut in 2002. Alongside Charlie Haas as The World’s Greatest Tag Team, the duo won the first of their two WWE Tag Team Championships in early 2003. They went on to successfully retain the gold at Wrestlemania XIX.

Released from WWE in 2010, he spent time in ROH with Haas, picking up a brace a tag team title reigns before three years in and out of NJPW from 2012 to 2015.

A three-time Intercontinental Champion, Benjamin will bring some pedigree to whichever roster he’s assigned to.
