Brutal Legend 2 Still Isn’t Happening, Sorry

Fans of awesome heavy metal RTS/adventure game Brutal Legend got a tad over excited Over the past few days, due to an image becoming circulated which Seemed to suggest a sequel to the cult classic. The image Was on A Brutal Legend Facebook page featuring A metal demon alongside the caption “Omageddon Lives”. Fans of the Jack Black voiced game had only a tiny leap to make in their jump to a conclusion.

Fans hopes were shattered as Double Fine quickly took to Twitter to say; “Today in killjoy news: This was a fan site posting, and nothing to do with us. Sorry if you got excited!” The page turned out to be a mere fan page and the image was later removed. Brutal Legend was a project close to the heart of many of the Double Fine staff and the studio have said in the past that they would love to work on a sequel. This teamed with the fact that Psychonauts, another cult game, was finally receiving a follow-up seems to have sent Legend fans into overdrive.

All is not lost, however. Last December, Double Fine stated that they might make Brutal Legend 2, but only if Psychonauts 2 is a success. Jack Black has previously said he’d be up for returning as roadie Eddie Riggs, so who knows what the future holds?

In the meantime, Double Fine will continue work on Psychonauts 2, which crowdfunded $3.8 million through Fig in January 2016 and will release in 2018. Double Fine are Also working on another Psychonauts game, Rhombus of Ruin for the Playstation VR.
