While wrestlers are the undeniable stars of the ring, there’s something to be said about the role that a referee plays in a wrestling match. They need to show authority while also channelling the emotion and physical exhaustion of a match, which can be tough. Fortunately, AEW’s referees are some of the best in the business, and in AEW: Fight Forever, you can even play as one of them in the form of AEW mainstay Aubrey Edwards. This is how you can unlock Aubrey Edwards as a playable character in AEW: Fight Forever.
AEW: Fight Forever | How To Unlock Aubrey Edwards
Like fellow unlockable character Cody Rhodes, referee Aubrey Edwards can be purchased from the in-game shop on the main menu for 20,000 AEW Cash. That’s twice the amount it costs to purchase Cody Rhodes from the shop, making her the most expensive item in the shop. Players can earn cash from completing matches in any of the game’s modes, including exhibition, online and the Road To The Elite Mode. A regular match in any mode will earn you around 3K+, and that’s without getting into the various challenges you can complete which will earn you even more money.
Once you’ve purchased the Aubrey Edwards character from the in-game shop, you’ll be able to use her as a character in any of AEW: Fight Forever’s modes, which does create some interesting situations if she happens to be refereeing the match you’re also playing. Still, being able to take one of the core parts of AEW’s on screen presentation, even as a non-wrestler, then subsequently hotshotting her to the top of the card in the Road To Elite mode, is great fun regardless.
About Aubrey Edwards
The most recognisable referee on AEW’s books that isn’t named Bryce Remsburg, Aubrey Edwards has become a core part of AEW programming as a referee. Once known on the independent circuit as Gearl Hebner, a tribute to one of the most legendary refs of all-time in Earl Hebner, Aubrey is perhaps the most uniquely qualified individual for AEW: Fight Forever. Before becoming a wrestling referee, Aubrey worked as a video game developer; her most notable credit being that she was lead producer on Wii U title Scribblenauts Unlimited.
