Marvel just released the official teaser for Eternals, maybe because we’ve been demanding new footage since forever. Regardless, it’s here now, and it looks great.
From the teaser alone it’s clear to see that this is a Chloé Zhao film, with much attention paid to natural landscape and such striking cinematography. The teaser doesn’t mention Zhao nor her status as an Academy award winning director, but maybe they’re saving it for the official trailer. This is also the first time we see the team in full costume, and the costumes really give off the vibe of ancient immortal beings, so stellar job on that front.
What’s The Film About?
The film will follow an immortal alien race, called the Eternals, who have secretly lived on Earth for thousands of years and possess varying powers and abilities. While it is an ensemble film, Kevin Feige has said that Gemma Chan’s Sersi is kind of the lead character. Sersi has the ability to manipulate matter and is romantically involved with Richard Madden’s Ikaris.
The Cast & Their Characters
Madden’s Ikaris is the leader of the group – he can fly, shoot beams of cosmic energy from his eyes and has super strength. Angelina Jolie plays Thena, a warrior who can create any weapon out of cosmic energy.
Lauren Ridloff plays Makkari, the first deaf superhero in the MCU, and Brian Tyree Henry will play Phatos, the first openly gay superhero. Don Lee is Gilgamesh, Kumail Nanjiani is Kingo, we have Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh is Sprite, Barry Keoghan plays Druig and Kit Harington is Dane Whitman, also known as the Black Knight.
Eternals will be released in cinemas November 5, 2021.
