The Libertines to Release New Music After 10 Year Wait

Following on from a batch of hugely successful gigs this year and an apparent renaissance for Pete Doherty, The Libertines have announced that they will be releasing new music.

The Libertines originally disbanded back in 2004, citing personal reasons for the split. The band members took different directions with the two frontmen gleaming the most attention. Doherty formed Babyshambles and also released plenty of solo material, whereas Carl Barat was in 100 bands that no-one cared about.

It’s a relief to see troubled singer Doherty turn a corner of late, and seemingly for real this time after a tumultuous history of drug abuse. You couldn’t imagine that a fully-fledged reunion would be possible without him being completely clean.

What do you think to the creative reunion? Good or bad idea? Let us know in the comments below.
