As confirmed by NXT General Manager William Regal, the NXT Tag Team Championships will be on the line in tonight’s episode of NXT TV. Matt Riddle will defend the titles alongside a handpicked mystery partner and will face off with former two time NXT Tag champs, Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish of the Undisputed Era.
With Pete Dunne grounded in the UK due to world travel restrictions, ‘The Original Bro’ was forced to go it alone when the relatively new tag team of Bivens Enterprises staked their claim at the top of the division by assaulting Riddle post-match. Before Riddle deals with the two newcomers, he must finally dispatch of the two remnants of UE, Strong and Fish, who will be teaming together for the first time in NXT.
With so many regular faces either taking time off or booked in other TakeOver feuds, there’s only a handful of potential partners for Matt Riddle to choose from. Perhaps he’ll call back to his days as ‘The Limitless Bros’ and recruit the NXT North American Champion Keith Lee to take Dunne’s place? Maybe Riddle will align himself with ‘Blackheart’ Tommaso Ciampa, or even taking a lesser-known star like Bronson Reed under his wing during ‘The Bruiserweights’ downtime.
Either way, this should be a truly exciting addition to tonight’s card and a spectacular match to boot.
