8 Ways to Improve RAW’s Women’s Division

At the time of me writing this, I’m three quarters of the way through last week’s Raw and have just finished the second of the two triple threat matches featured. The first featured Sasha Banks vs Emma vs Alicia Fox, the second featured Nia Jax vs Mickie James vs Dana Brooke, with the winners of both facing each other next week for the chance to face Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam. Now just by looking at those triple threats you know who won and can make an incredibly confident guess as to who wins next week.

This is the problem with the women’s division: predictability and lack of character. Within this article is my attempt at ‘fixing that’.

1. Alexa Bliss

In my opinion, the Raw Women’s Champion is the strongest character in the division. She acts like a heel champion and her character compliments that well. I would not change her but if anything she needs better competition, not just for her but for that title.

2. Sasha Banks

The boss needs to be more cocky. Heel or face, The Boss persona screams boldness and smugness. Have Sasha Banks smack talk and act like a smartass while also backing it up against faces especially could help her get over. She’s good on the mic but not as someone who ‘wants’ the fans, she needs to not care about them at all, but entertain them with ‘risky’ comments on the mic.

3. Alicia Fox

Alicia Fox has arguably the most ‘unique’ character in the division. Her backstage segments featuring her screaming and making a scene are like nails on a chalkboard, which is the point. I may be mistaken but when she competes, that backstage attitude doesn’t carry through to the in-ring competition. Having her scream and going crazy after being pushed, for example, to the canvas and only escalating as the boos get louder is a great way to get heat and make us as an audience pay attention to her.

4. Nia Jax

Nia Jax was a force to be reckoned with when she was first introduced, but now she’s faded into someone used mainly to make Sasha and Bayley look strong. Keep her off the mic, she doesn’t need it. For now, pair her with Bliss, constantly beating Alexa’s competition not losing to them. Eventually have her turn on Bliss and give her the title to have her towering over the division -for a while- until the David to her Goliath comes to knock her down.

5. Dana Brooke

She’s not a good face at the moment. She should be turned back heel, and a way over-confident one at that so hopefully she’ll even get a small reaction. Use her as an ambassador or use her for commercial use. Her and her bodybuilding physique would be a great way of representing and advertising the women’s division. Her body type is unique in this division and therefore so should her moveset be; have her perform feats of strength that not even Nia Jax would perform.

6. Mickie James

She is a multiple time Women’s Champion, a veteran and a legend, but she’s nothing on Raw. She has so much potential to help shape the stars of today but she can’t do that when she’s not a star herself. She and Alexa still have unfinished business, so cash in on that and create a story involving passion and drive to become what she used to be with the only person standing in her way being a smug brat willing to do anything to win.

7. Emma

The way Emma has been used is beyond disappointing. She has so much unused potential, she’s a fantastic ring worker and her gimmick is fantastic for a heel. Push her, have her beat big names, be in big angles. For example, she’s been talking about Jason Jordan a lot on social media – have her make him fall in love with and control him, therefore controlling his ‘dad’ Raw GM Kurt Angle.

8. Bayley

Bayley should be the top and best face WWE has in this division, but since coming up she’s flopped. She needs loss after loss, she needs her tag teams to lose because of her, but she needs to keep smiling through it, therefore having a bigger impact when she finally frowns. This recent injury may have been the best thing, not for her but for her character, for her character as now she can gain more and more sympathy and the fans can grow anticipation for her return.

So there’s my list, what do you think?
