8 Biggest Summer Blockbusters To Watch in 2015

2015 Summer Blockbusters

So many blockbusters, so much CGI, too many big action scenes. We’ve already withstood some big budget releases this year (Fast 7, Insurgent), but with May on the horizon, summer blockbuster season will begin in earnest. Be honest, how ready are you?

If your answer is no, don’t worry, we’ve got your back. This is our list of the biggest summer films and what to expect. We’re not saying these will be good or bad, but if you like the sound of any of them be sure to thank Cultured Vultures when you walk out of the cinema wearing a grin. Because we’re certain that will be the only outcome…

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Let’s be honest, the new Avengers will be the highest grossing movie of the year unless a man-made AI actually does try to take over the world and puts people off seeing it. The combination of Joss Whedon’s deft hand and Marvel’s marketing juggernaut means the Avengers’ second outing will likely draw the most people into theatres and see the most leaving happy in 2015.

It’s unlikely to reinvent the wheel (the first movie already sort of did that in 2012), but with Whedon writing and directing again, it will likely have the right balance of action beats and humour that made the first instalment a quintessential popcorn flick. For casual fans, there’ll be more Robert Downey Jr, with Captain America and Thor also in the mix. Meanwhile, comic book fans can likely expect plenty of nods to both the source material and events and characters in other movies.

Be warned though: we might be approaching the point where some plot moments become impenetrable if you haven’t been keeping up with the other films. Some of us might find ourselves asking ‘Who is that giant purple guy?’ and ‘Should I know who he is already?’. If you can move past this you should find a good time here.

Recommendation: If you’re a fan of these films you’re probably already going to see it. If not, it will no doubt be worth a couple of hours of your time if you’re looking for a big action movie to see.
