October has been an exhausting month on the gaming front with some of the biggest AAA games hitting the shelves with some being a little disappointing to others knocking the ball out of the park (I’m looking at you, Red Dead Redemption 2). November is now firmly upon and the game release calendar is looking equally as busy. Here are some of the games we have to look forward to this coming month.
1. Overkill’s The Walking Dead | November 6th
Developer: Overkill Studio
Publisher: Starbreeze Studios
Format: PC
Console owners are going to have to wait a little longer to experience it, but PC owners can pick up Overkill’s The Walking Dead the beginning of this month. This first person co-op shooter promises to also feature role playing elements, survival and stealth in a zombie infested Washington DC where you must work with each other to complete mission objectives.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead will appeal to fans of the TV series as Robert Kirkman was an advisor on the game’s direction as well as those of you who are interested in first person shooters, co-op games and zombie games.
2. Hitman 2 | November 13th
Developer: IO Interactive
Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Format: PS4, XB1, PC
A sequel to the hugely successful Hitman that was released in 2016, Hitman 2 sees the return of Agent 47 as he tries to track down the mysterious Shadow Client as well as try to unravel his dark, violent past. Hitman 2 is a must for fans of the series as well as those of you who enjoy stealth heavy games. There will also be an online multiplayer mode and numerous ‘Elusive Target’ missions with Sean Bean lending his voice to the first of these missions.
3. Spyro Re-Ignited Trilogy | November 13th
Developer: Toys For Bob
Publisher: Activision
Format: PS4, XB1
Following the huge success of the remake of Crash Bandicoot, it was only a matter of time before everyone’s favourite dragon saw a return to the current generation of consoles. Featuring the first three games of the series, Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon, this game is a must buy for those of you who loved the originals on PS1 as well as those of you who enjoyed Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
4. Fallout 76 | November 14th
Developer: Bethesda
Publisher: Bethesda
Format: PS4, XB1, PC
After Bethesda received so much success from their Elder Scrolls online game, it was only a matter of time before we saw an online only version of Fallout. Set in West Virginia, Bethesda have claimed that the map is four times larger than that of Fallout 4 and have already teased some really nasty looking enemies that haunt the irradiated wasteland. This game is going to be huge and would appeal to anyone who enjoys Bethesda’s previous games and online gameplay. For those of you looking for a solo adventure, I would go into Fallout 76 with extreme caution.
5. Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu/Let’s GO Eevee | November 16th
Developer: Game Freak
Publisher: Nintendo
Format: Nintendo Switch
Whether you like it or not, Pokémon is still motoring along with a huge fan base and the new series of games lined up for Nintendo Switch look to capitalise on the insane popularity of Pokémon Go. Set in the Kanto region of the Pokémon Universe, Pokémon Let’s Go looks to be a bizarre cross between Pokémon Go and the Pokémon RPG format we have all been used to, a mix that I’m not convinced will work. As always, this will appeal to anyone who likes Pokémon and also those you of who enjoy Pokémon Go and own a Switch.
6. Battlefield V | November 20th
Developer: EA Dice
Publisher: EA Games
Format: PS4, XB1, PC
With Battlefield VI seemingly hitting all the right spots and Call of Duty WWII following in the same footsteps, it is no wonder that EA have decided to stick on the same path and develop a sequel, this time set in an alternative WWII universe. With an expanded focus on realism, War Stories, multiplayer action and taking the front lines, Battlefield is looking to once again be a huge hit. With the immensely fun looking online matches and single-player, this title is a must for those of you who enjoyed Battlefield 1 as well as those of you who are huge fans of war games and the FPS genre.
7. Darksiders 3 | November 26th
Developer: Gunfire Games
Publisher: THQ Nordic
Format: PS4, XB1, PC
The Darksiders franchise is series of hack n slash games that have seen us step into the boots of War for the first installment as he is accidently used to bring about the apocalypse early and as Death in Darksiders 2 as he attempts to clear his brother’s name. For the third instalment in the series, we play as Fury, their sister, as she embarks on slaying the Seven Deadly Sins. The series features a blend of violent action and puzzle solving combined with an often gripping and fast paced storyline. Fans of God of War and the original instalments in the series should really consider picking this up.
