5 Things To Take Away From WWE Raw 06/18/18

Ronda Rousey Alexa Bliss

It’s a little tough fitting in three hour’s worth of Raw every single week. So we’re going to try and take some weight off your shoulders and sum up the five things you need to know from this week’s episode.

The fallout from Money in the Bank was strong this week. Monday Night Raw churned out one of the most dramatic episodes they’ve had in some time, which is not to say it’s worth watching every little bit of the show, but there’s definitely some big moves that have been made by the creative team.

1. Dolph Ziggler is the NEW Intercontinental Champion

Yep. This happened.

Coming off of his victory over Elias at Money in the Bank, Seth Rollins continued with his run of open challenges on Monday Night Raw. The call was answered by the duo of Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre this week, who have been sort of hanging around waiting for something big to come their way, this was it.

Ziggler and Rollins have always had some fun chemistry with one another, a feud which in my opinion should have been milked a little more back in 2015, following the Survivor Series match.

Rollins attempted to defeat Ziggler in the same vein as Elias – with a handful of tights – but bad karma caught up with the Architect and Ziggler managed to reverse the roll-up into one of his own for the win.

The duo attacked Rollins post-match and later gave him some insults backstage after Seth declared his rematch, so you can assume that going forward we’ll be seeing Rollins feud with both Dolph and Drew. This should make for a really interesting series of matches.

2. Ronda Rousey has been suspended

Fret not, this is in kayfabe only. The former UFC Bantamweight champ was pretty pissed off after being screwed out of the Raw Women’s title at Money in the Bank by Alexa Bliss, so she took it upon herself to ruin the new champ’s celebration.

Not only did Bliss feel the wrath of Ronda after throwing some vicious remarks her way about being an “overhyped rookie” but Kurt Angle was victim to a bit of judo at the hands of Rousey. Tables were broken, Olympic Hero’s were furious.

Kurt handed Ronda a 30-day suspension, which means WWE have an excuse not to give her appearances away on Raw every week. In the meantime, Alexa is set to defend her championship against the former champ Nia Jax at Extreme Rules. Oh dang.

3. Brock Lesnar’s next opponent to be determined at Extreme Rules

Looking forward to the next pay-per-view, Extreme Rules has been given a huge main event. Kurt Angle announced that the next contender for the Universal Championship will be determined in a multi-man match, but how many men exactly? Well that’s unconfirmed.

What is confirmed is that both Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley are in the match; you can only imagine how excited Vince is for this. It was only a matter of time before the two came face-to-face over who gets to fight Brock, so this week they were teamed together against The Revival to show off who can squash someone the most.

Naturally, they won.

A few hours later, Elias announced that he’s taking part in the match as well. Hooray!

4. The Mega Powers Explode…again

Sasha Banks and Bayley have been on the cusp of feuding for about six months now, I’m pretty certain we’ve seen the ol’ tension between partners angle thrown out at least ten times already in their matches. This week however, it finally boiled over (for the second time) and Sasha laid out Bayley backstage after their loss to The Riott Squad.

If their matches on WWE television are half as good as their program in NXT, then the payoff will at least be better than most these days. I wouldn’t go expecting much but still, they’re doing something,

5. Constable Corbin takes matters into his own hands

The man with the biggest banter has been wearing some flashy waistcoats as of late, and this week he wrestled in one. I’m not kidding. The main event of Raw pitted Kevin Owens and Baron Corbin against Finn Balor and Mr. Money in the Bank, Braun Strowman.

A fairly standard match for Raw, but it had its moments. Owens desperately tried to get over with Braun as his new best friend, but that was to no avail as Braun did Braun things and put KO through the barricade.

RIP.
