30 Rock: Season 8 – Everything You Need To Know

30 Rock

30 Rock is one of those sitcoms that rarely missed the mark during its time on air. Thanks to the hard work of Tina Fey and her fellow cast members, 30 Rock left a memorable legacy with its top-tier comedy, excellent performances, and even surprising guest appearances. The show ran for seven seasons from 2006 until 2013, and still over a decade later, an eighth season hasn’t been released.

Several fans and even some of the cast expressed their desire to make Season 8, so why hasn’t it happened yet? Was 30 Rock canceled? Or will it eventually be revisited? Here’s everything you should know about 30 Rock: Season 8.

When Is 30 Rock: Season 8 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, 30 Rock: Season 8 has no official release date. In fact, 30 Rock: Season 8 may not happen at all. Season 7 was 30 Rock’s final outing in 2013, but it was briefly revisited in 2020.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, NBC produced a special episode for 30 Rock titled “30 Rock: A One-Time Special.” The episode featured a long-awaited reunion of the cast, but it still didn’t sit well with the fans. Several people deemed the episode a mere hour-long commercial for NBC’s streaming service for Peacock. So, while it did give us more 30 Rock content, the reunion left many people dissatisfied and longing for a faithful revisiting of the series.

Sadly, NBC shows no signs of renewing 30 Rock for Season 8. Even after Alec Baldwin offered NBC to cut 20 percent of his paycheck for a complete seventh and eighth season, NBC still made Season 7 the final season. With that, don’t expect 30 Rock: Season 8 to be released in the near future.

What Could 30 Rock: Season 8 Be About?

Since the show has ended, no one knows the exact plot of 30 Rock: Season 8. 30 Rock concluded on its own terms without getting canceled by the network, so the character arcs and storylines were wrapped up by the end of the series. Still, that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate what could be its potential plot.

The final scene showed Liz’s great-granddaughter pitching an idea, which seems to be the plot of 30 Rock, to an immortal Kenneth Parcell. An eighth season or spin-off could continue from this point, or they could show us the characters’ lives after the epilogue. For instance, it could show Liz’s life as a producer for Grizz and Herz. It could also follow what happened to Pete after his wife found him, or maybe even Jack’s career after coming up with his dishwasher idea.

30 Rock: Season 8 Cast

On the off-chance it was to happen, you can expect the following cast members to return for 30 Rock: Season 8:

  • Tina Fey as Liz Lemon
  • Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy
  • Tracy Morgan as Tracy Jordan
  • Jack McBrayer as Kenneth Parcell
  • Jane Krakowski as Jenna Maroney
  • Scott Adsit as Pete Hornberger
  • Judah Friedlander as Frank Rossitano

  • Katrina Bowden as Cerie
  • Kevin Brown as Dot Com
  • Grizz Chapman as Grizz
  • John Lutz as J.D. Lutz

However, it’s unclear if Alec Baldwin will return in light of the tragedy with his Rust movie. Nonetheless, you can expect the rest of the cast to reprise their roles if a new 30 Rock project were to be made.

How Many Episodes Will 30 Rock: Season 8 Have?
