Yakuza’s Producer Interested In Remastering Binary Domain

YES PLEASE.

Yakuza’s series producer Daisuke Sato has stated that he’s interested in bringing 2012’s cult hit shooter Binary Domain to modern consoles, though not without a couple of changes to the overall game.

What’s Binary Domain, Again?

Arguably one of the most overlooked shooters of the PS3/Xbox 360 era, Binary Domain saw players infiltrating a futuristic Japan, shooting the crap out of a tonne of robots while you’re there. The gameplay was your standard, cover-to-cover third person shoooter, but the overall story and characters made the game a memorable experience from start to finish.

So Sato’s Interested In Bringing It Back?

When speaking to the French publication GameBlog, Sato was asked about the possibility of seeing it playable on Xbox Series X | S, to which he replied: “Personally, I would really like to make it so (laughs). But if possible, I would like to make some changes that I couldn’t do at the time and maybe even redo some parts of the game.”

During the same interview, Sato also reiterated his desire to bring Yakuza Ishin and Yakuza Kenzan, the samurai-based spin-offs to the West, citing the success of PlayStation exclusive Ghost of Tsushima as a way for it to happen.

Sato said: “I already wanted to release “samurai” games like Kenzan and Ishin in the West long before the release of Ghost of Tsushima. After Yakuza 0, we were unfortunately very busy with the PS4 remaster of the numbered Yakuza games. So we missed the opportunity to work on some of these other games. And I would say that on the contrary, Ghost of Tsushima has helped to interest western gamers in samurai. So I should tell myself that now is a more favorable period for the release of these games (in the West).”
