WWE Changes Matt Riddle’s Ring Name

Oh, wow.

Matt Riddle

WWE are back to their usual tricks with the sudden name changes, with this month’s victim being none other than former NXT Tag Team champion, Matt Riddle. Now going by simply ‘Riddle’, the RAW superstar is channelling some serious Goldberg vibes as he continues to find his place on the main roster.

As we’ve come to expect, wrestling fans are in uproar over the drastic change to the name Riddle has built a brand around since making the transition into pro wrestling. Yet, ‘The Original Bro’ has taken to social media to calm the storm by stating that he’s actually down with the name change.

But why?!

This is apparently due to Vince McMahon being very impressed with Riddle’s performances on the red brand, having been wowed by the former UFC fighter’s performance in his latest match against Sheamus. According to other reports, Riddle will soon be receiving a bit of a character makeover, presented in a more serious light as he starts to rise through the ranks of the main roster.

Say what you will about WWE’s incessant need to shorten everyone’s names but at least this means he’s in with a chance of winning over the powers that be. Riddle has already been referred to as a talent with the calibre of a young Shawn Michaels, so here’s hoping 2021 is a breakout year for ‘The King of Bros’.

I mean, it could be worse, he could’ve been renamed Dudey McGee or Sexton Hardcastle.
