WWE 2K22 is a WWE game with more online focus than ever, as players can take the action to other players across so many modes that they’re spoilt for choice. Do you need PlayStation Plus to play WWE 2K22 online on PS5 and PS4, though?
The answer is yes, you do need to have an active subscription for PlayStation Plus if you want to play 2K22 online, as this rule applies to every premium PlayStation game. Only free-to-play games like Fortnite don’t need a Plus subscription for you to play the multiplayer online.
PlayStation Plus costs £6.99/$9.99 a month, or £49.99/$59.99 a year. Subscribers can also claim “free games” each month to add to their library that they will lose if their subscription lapses, as well as a bunch of other incentives like cloud saves. There is no free trial.
While it’s a shame that you need to pay extra to play the game online, it’s also worth mentioning that there’s no shortage of single-player modes for WWE 2K22 as well. MyRise and MyGM will no doubt take up plenty of your time, and there’s also Showcase: a fun walk back through some of the highlights of Rey Mysterio’s career.
WWE 2K22 is available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X & S, and Xbox One.
