World of Tanks

In what might be the weirdest collaboration of 2020, or of any year for that matter, Wargaming have announced that the console version of World of Tanks will be partnering with the WWE to bring a variety of themed wrestling content to the game, including a host of Superstar Collector Tanks.

The update, Season 1 – SummerSlam, will last from today until September 21st, and will introduce five brand new Superstar Collector Tanks inspired by The Undertaker and Becky Lynch, along with WWE Hall of Famers Andre the Giant, Sgt. Slaughter and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. These will be joined by Roman Reigns, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels in August. It’s a shame Rusev is no longer in WWE, as he proved to be the best tank commander at Wrestlemania 31.

This new season of content coincides with Update 5.0, which introduces cross-play to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, allowing both sets of players to compete against each other to dominate the battlefield. The Commander mode will also be making a return, for those who prefer to take a different view to tank battles.

Honestly, WWE partnering with a tank game seems pretty odd, but there will be someone, somewhere who is really excited for this news. Are you one of those people? Let us know in the comments.
