Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty doesn’t feature a lot of side quests to complete, but the ones it does have can be a bit vague and hard to follow. One such side quest concerns a hermit Taoist who has been locked out of their house, and you’ll need to find the keys in order to let them back in. The search for those keys might just take you across all of China, but they’re out there. Don’t worry.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to enter the Taoist’s house in the Hidden Village in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

How To Open The Front Door

In order to start the quest, you’ll need to speak to the Taoist in the Hidden Village who has been locked out of her own house. You unlock the Hidden Village at the start of Part 3, just after you’ve completed the stage “The Demon Fort of the Yellow Heaven”. The Taoist you need to speak to can be found near the Blacksmith, stood next to a house with a locked door.

Once you’ve spoken to her, she’ll tell you that she’s lost her key to the front door, and she thinks she might have dropped it while training on the mountain. In order to find it, you’ll need to complete the next main mission, “In Search of the Immortal Wizard”. The key itself can be found on the path towards the boss fight with Aoye, and is pretty hard to miss.

It is worth noting however that you might need to speak to the Taoist after you’ve already completed the stage and returned to the Hidden Village in order for the key to spawn, as we only found the key when replaying that stage. If the key isn’t there on your first playthrough, speak to the Taoist again then go through the level a second time.

How To Open The Back Door

Once you’ve obtained the key and returned to the Hidden Village, you’ll hand the key over to the Taoist, only for them to reveal that they’re a silly billy who also lost the key to their back door. Their back garden contains the rewards that’ll make this fetch quest worth it, so you’ll need to find that second key too. The Taoist says they dropped it somewhere dark and cramped, which doesn’t give you a lot to go on, but eventually, you’ll be able to find it.

During the Part 5 stage, War’s Flames Blaze Fiercely, you’ll come to a section close to the end of the level where you have to enter some sewers through the statue of a dragon’s head. Go through the head and follow the path until you come to an open room with multiple paths on the left and right. On the right-hand side is a Marking Flag, but the bounty you’ll want is on the first path on the left, guarded by a spider. Kill the spider, then grab the Taoist’s back door key.

How To Open The Back Garden Chests

Now that you’ve got the key to the Taoist’s back door (stop giggling at the back), you’ll find three chests in the back garden that are all locked. You might think this side quest just became even more annoying, but the hard part is pretty much done now. In order to gain the keys to the chests, you’ll need to give the Taoist certain items that you’ll probably have in your inventory anyway, like a Fire Pot, a Mystic Crane or an Anti-Freeze Soil. Give her the three items she needs and you’ll have the three chest keys you need. You don’t even need to reload the level each time.

Inside those three chests are a heap of Qi Crystals, giving you an instant injection of XP you’ll need to level up, some high rank Steel and Leather for help upgrading your equipment, and some high-end gear to boot. Not bad for just a few fetch quests.
