The Pokémon Company and Nintendo this morning revealed that new Pokémon experiences would be coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2018. As an added bonus, they confirmed that the next “full” Pokémon game would arrive on Switch in 2019.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, which are more or less the same game so let’s just count them as one, are inspired by 2016’s biggest mobile game, Pokémon GO. Taking inspiration from Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon: Let’s Go will allow you to team up with Pikachu or Eevee with familiar mechanics from GO and the ability to catch new Pokémon by gesturing with your Joy-Cons to throw Poké Balls.

Pokémon: Let’s Go is pitched as an introductory Pokémon game and will allow players to carry some Pokémon over from Pokémon GO. They’re also teasing a big new announcement to tie the two games closer to each other, so watch this space. Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will arrive in November 2018 exclusively for Switch.

Meanwhile, Pokémon Quest is an action RPG for the Switch that’s available for free from the Nintendo eShop right now; it’s pitched as a “free-to-start” game, which may mean that you will encounter a paywall before long. Quest takes place on Tumblecube Island where everything and everyone seems to have come down with a touch of the Porygons; everything is a cube.

Developed by GAME FREAK, Pokémon Quest allows players to team up with their “Pokéxel” and use simple touch controls for battles. The aim of the game is to befriend Pokémon and develop a bond with them, as well as to obsess over your base camp — it seems like Animal Crossing fans will have a lot to love about Quest. Pokémon Quest will also be coming to mobile devices near the end of June.

Which of the new Pokémon games are you looking forward, to playing the most? Pokémon Quest seems like it could be a bit of fun, so find out for yourself and download it now.
