Trek to Yomi Reveals Samurai Action-Filled Gameplay Trailer

Draw your sword in this moody, monochromatic samurai action game.

Developer Flying Wild Hog and publisher Devolver Digital have released a gameplay trailer for their forthcoming side-scrolling samurai action game Trek to Yomi.

The trailer gives players a taste of Trek to Yomi’s flavor, as main character Hiroki slices his way through a gorgeous black-and-white landscape, across battlefields, underground tunnels, and storm-swept towns while cutting through all manner of enemies.

The monochromatic color scheme calls to mind the classic samurai films of Akira Kurosawa, a cultural touchstone also underlined in open world samurai game Ghost of Tsushima’s black-and-white “Kurosawa mode.” Trek to Yomi’s focus on side-scrolling combat does give Yomi its own style and identity in the pantheon of games about vengeful would-be samurai.

From Trek to Yomi’s Steam page:
“As a vow to his dying Master, the young swordsman Hiroki is sworn to protect his town and the people he loves against all threats. Faced with tragedy and bound to duty, the lone samurai must voyage beyond life and death to confront himself and decide his path forward.”

Trek to Yomi will be released sometime in 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Game Pass.
