The Women’s Revolution has brought a new element to the WWE that was not as prominent in the past. The women of WWE in this era have been given opportunities that just were not there before. This has included a match which not only headlined a PPV but was hosted in a Hell In A Cell as well. So where do the women of WWE go from here to break new ground? With the announcement of Alexa Bliss defending the Smackdown Women’s Title against every available female on the roster, these women should be given the opportunity to showcase their skills in the ever so memorable Wrestlemania Ladder Match.

The ladder match, which first got noticed at Wrestlemania X, was fought between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon and is still regarded by many as one of the greatest matches in Wrestlemania history. The bar was then set that much higher during the Attitude Era when The Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian, and The Dudley Boyz battled it out in the classic Wrestlemania 2000 TLC match. This would once again get topped by the same three teams a year later at Wrestlemania X-Seven.

Since then, the ladder match has become a staple for WWE at Wrestlemania. It saw the initial Money In The Bank match introduced, and since then has often seen several superstars on the roster battle it out for the Intercontinental Championship. This year, with singles matches on the horizon setup for both the Intercontinental Championship and the United States Championship, one has to wonder if WWE has plans to include the Ladder Match during one of the bouts at this years Wrestlemania.

If WWE do decide to do a Ladder Match at this year’s Wrestlemania then who better to take that on than the women of WWE’s Smackdown brand? This would give an opportunity for the women to once again set the bar a little bit higher for themselves, and even give an edge to the women of Smackdown over the women of Raw as well. This match could easily be contested between Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, Becky Lynch, and Natalya.  There is also possibility of some additional names being added to this match as well. Tamina Snuka has recently been seen on WWE Smackdown house shows, so her inclusion could easily be made here. Another name being tossed around at the moment is the idea of Eva Marie making her return to the blue brand ever since her suspension for violation of the WWE wellness policy.  There are also other rumours floating around that WWE may be looking to others outside of the company such as Victoria or Kelly Kelly, who could make returns to huge pops from the crowd if they were to also be included in this match as well.

There is no arguing that the women’s division has been one of the more exciting aspects of WWE television over the last while and it is a true credit to the performers that they have. This match could have the possibility of stealing the show on what seems to be looking like a very stacked Wrestlemania card as it is. To simply put them in a free-for-all style match would not do enough to really get the WWE Universe behind the bout itself. It would become something of a filler without giving it some form of special stipulation. Adding the Ladder stipulation to this match would allow for the women of Smackdown to truly give the WWE Universe something to be excited about, and something to be remembered as well.

This match easily could start off this year’s Wrestlemania and really get the WWE Universe pumped up, setting the tone for the entire night and really giving us fans something to get behind.  I hope that the WWE are willing to give the women of Smackdown an opportunity to have the classic Wrestlemania style ladder match this year.
