Lovecraftian horror-inspired detective game The Sinking City has returned to Steam, but the game’s developers, Frogwares, are imploring customers not to purchase this version.

In a tweet from the developer on Friday, Frogwares claims that this version of the game was not created by their developers, and promised “more news soon.” At this time, no further information on the matter has been released.

The Sinking City was pulled from Steam in August 2020 due to legal troubles between Frogwares and publisher Nacon (previously Big Ben Interactive), who allegedly breached licensing agreements, thus owing Frogwares allegedly €1 million in outstanding payments.

The game returned to online storefronts last month following the Paris Court of Appeals ruling that Frogwares had terminated its relationship with Nacon in “a manifestly unlawful manner.”

Where Else Can I Play The Sinking City?

The Sinking City also came to PS5 on February 19th. In a statement on their official site, the developers reported that they both developed and published the version of the game on PS5, and since the PS4 and PS5 have different publishers, the game is ineligible for a now-standard next-gen platform upgrade.

The Sinking City, in its many iterations, is available on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC through various online storefronts.
