The PS5’s UK Launch Has Been A Bit Of A Nightmare

Never a dull moment.

Today has seen the PS5 launch in the UK, along with a host of other regions, and while there are plenty of happy customers receiving their shiny new console/router-looking-thing, there’s been plenty of disappointment today too.

Alright, What’s Gone Wrong Today?

Firstly, the retailer Game set the pace for disappointment last night when they sent an email to pre-order customers saying that their deliveries that were handled through the courier Yodel might only arrive tomorrow, setting off a sort of war of words between the two parties. Okay, maybe that’s a little bit dramatic, but there was definitely some finger pointing on both sides.

Game’s woes haven’t been alleviated today either. They were due to start selling PS5 pre-orders online at 9am today, but due to some issues, Game had to postpone their listing until this afternoon. The site is live again now, so perhaps Game are through the worst of it, but it’s not a great day for one of the UK’s biggest video game retailers.

Any Other Disasters?

Currys have also been in the wars today. Like Game, they were due to start selling PS5s on their website at 9am this morning, but some people were able to access the PS5s as early as 5:30am. Currys then proceeded to cancel those orders (and are in the process of issuing refunds), and have stated they won’t be selling any PS5s today.
