The Black Death Becomes A Zombie Outbreak In Horror Comic Pestilence

Frequent comic readers will no doubt be familiar with writer Frank Tieri because of his stories featuring popular characters, including Iron Man, Wolverine, Deadpool, Batman, and for his work on the Marvel vs. Capcom games. This May, he’s going to be weaving a different kind of tale as he steps into Medieval Europe for a new comic series called Pestilence, which asks the question of “What if the Black Death was actually a zombie outbreak?”

The Black Death killed over fifty million people, which accounted for around sixty percent of the population of Europe. Tieri’s alternate history tale will feature a knight named Roderick Helms, who is tasked with leading his elite squad of knights to prevent the living dead outbreak from spreading any further.

Pestilence will be published by AfterShock Comics, with Oleg Okunev providing the interior artwork, whilst Tim Bradstreet, who is known for his acclaimed Punisher illustrations, will be drawing the covers. If you can stomach a ton of Medieval gore, you can pre-order a digital copy of the first issue of Pestilence on ComiXology, ahead of its release on 3 May 2017.
