With the season finale that happened at the end of May, there is one thing Ted Lasso fans are waiting for. Well, two things, if you count the next FIFA World Cup. But the second thing is Ted Lasso: Season 4. The Season 3 finale shows Ted leaving AFC Richmond, so does that mean it’s over? Here’s what you should know about Ted Lasso: Season 4.
If you’re unfamiliar with it, Ted Lasso is a sports comedy-drama centered around the titular character Ted Lasso. Ted is an American football coach sent to coach a British football team. The catch? Ted doesn’t really have any experience with coaching a football team.
Sounds dysfunctional? That’s because the person who hired Ted actually wants him to fail. Ted is more than up for the challenge though, and puts his personal style of coaching to work.
When Is Ted Lasso: Season 4 Being Released?
You may have noticed that Season 3 was leaning a bit more toward drama rather than comedy. It was due to the show gearing up for an emotional finale. A final finale. The show is not being renewed for Ted Lasso: Season 4.
This news has been confirmed by Jason Sudeikis himself, the producer and star of Ted Lasso. Although, Jason hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility of spin-offs. He didn’t say they were planning on making one, but it’s definitely a possibility.
Still, the show lasted three seasons and 34 episodes. Certainly not bad for a series based on a seemingly throw-away character from an NBC Sports ad.
Will The Cast Return For Ted Lasso: Season 4?
As stated above, Ted Lasso: Season 4 isn’t coming. As such, no, the cast will not be returning for Ted Lasso: Season 4. You can still see your favorite actors from the series in other projects though. Here’s what the major cast members of Ted Lasso are working on.
Unfortunately for fans of Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), it doesn’t seem like he has any upcoming roles or projects. At least, none that have been made public yet.
Fortunately, Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton) does have some upcoming roles. She will be in the 2024 releases of Garfield and Mission: Impossible. The roles she will be playing haven’t been revealed yet.
Nick Mohammed (Nathan Shelley) will have roles in The Ballad Of Renegade Nell and the animated film Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget.
Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) is coming to Season 2 of Fraggle Rock: Back To The Rock. He will also share the spotlight with Hannah Waddingham in the upcoming Garfield movie.
What Could Ted Lasso: Season 4 Be About?
Maybe Ted Lasso: Season 4 is no longer happening, but you can hope for some sort of sequel somewhere down the line. Maybe a spin-off that will continue Ted’s story. The Season 3 finale shows Ted returning to America to coach his son’s soccer team. So, a potential sequel could be centered around his son Henry’s journey to becoming a soccer player.
Another potential sequel could keep the focus on Richmond. It wouldn’t really be about Ted Lasso anymore though, since Roy Kent becomes manager at the end of the series. The story would revolve around Roy Kent and the next generation of AFC Richmond. They’ll need to work hard to meet the expectations set by Ted’s team.
