Team17 have revealed that they’re working on a brand new instalment in the popular Worms series, and that it’s scheduled to launch this year. Check out the announcement tweet below, and be sure to practice your best Worms voice impersonation for the when the news drops.

The tweet and accompanying video don’t reveal much in the way of details, though we do see an updated version of the iconic Worm smashing a TV with a bat, before being on the receiving end of the Holy Hand Grenade. The tweet itself states that the Worms are back “like you’ve never seen them before”, with new Worms and new ways to play.
Honestly, this could mean anything from a collectible mobile card game to an MMO or first person shooter. The words “Worms” and “battle royale” had crossed my mind when writing this article, but it’s a thought I’d never not entertain longer than I have to, so be sure to let us know your best theories and ideas in the comments below.
