As a modern action RPG, you can bet that Starfield has tonnes of combat, lots to explore, and plenty of numbers to crunch. However, for those more used to other action RPGs where you can clearly see how much damage you’re doing with each hit, you might be a bit surprised to see no numbers floating out of enemies. This is a nice change for some, but for others, how can you enable those damage numbers?
Well, it’s a pretty easy fix, all told. Just go to Settings > Interface Show Damage Numbers > On. The next time you strike a blow, behold all of those glorious numbers that come flying out.
As mentioned, these damage numbers are slightly polarising, especially for games that are in first-person because of just how busy and overactive the screen can get with them enabled, as well as the supposed “Destiny-ification” of many games. However, there are those who prefer to instantly be able to tell how much damage a new weapon is doing, which is also a fair point.
How you play Starfield is really up to you, and that even applies to this. Whether you want a clean UI or more numbers than a calculator, the beauty is that the choice is completely yours.
Starfield is available on PC and Xbox.
