New photos from the set of Star Wars: Episode IX have made their way online, and they appear to show a lush forest planet filled with trees and foliage. Head over to Making Star Wars.net to see the photos for yourself.
Looking at them, it’s easy to be reminded of the Forest Moon of Endor, but only time will tell if this set is indeed representing the home of the Ewoks or an entirely new location.
Aside from the mass of trees, we can also see what appears to be a shallow pit dug by the crew, filled with large rocks. Each of the rocks is clearly marked with a number and a letter, meaning that they must serve some kind of purpose instead of just being there for people to sit on, but we can only guess what they’re actually for. Let’s just hope the crew remembers to fill the pit before they leave.
According to the Making Star Wars article, the set at Black Park, Buckinghamshire is so filled with crew members from the upcoming film that the car park has been completely filled, which has led to traffic jams in the local area. Episode IX is expected to wrap filming in early 2019, but the Black Park shoot would probably have finished long before then, much to the relief of the local residents.
J. J. Abrams, who helmed 2015’s The Force Awakens, is returning to direct Episode IX, which will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, and Billy Dee Williams. Carrie Fisher will return as Leia via the use of archive footage, while Mark Hamill will once again portray Luke Skywalker. Disney will release the film on December 20, 2019.
