Star Wars Celebration Brings Us New Rogue One Footage

Just in case you’re the worst nerd ever and are coming to this website for the first time ever, Star Wars Celebration is an annual fan convention celebrating all things Star Wars. As momentous as last year’s edition was, this year’s might be even better, especially as it’s given us a closer look at the upcoming Rogue One.

Disney sure know how to ration out the good stuff. We get a lot more action in the above video, including more of a sense of a ‘war’ that we had in the initial teaser trailer. Rogue One looks gritty, brutal, and doesn’t seem as if it will suffer without any Jedi.

Here’s the poster, which is obviously great:

Any news coming out of the Rogue One camp hasn’t been good news as of late. Extensive reshoots have been required to change the mood of the film, along with Mads Mikkelsen ruining the mystique a bit with his big Scandinavian mouth. However, we’ve a relatively young but experienced Gareth Edwards behind the lens, fans should have faith.

Set directly before the events of A New Hope, Rogue One is one of the first times in the entire Star Wars canon where there isn’t a lightsaber in sight. Felicity Jones leads the cast as Jyn Erso and the likes of Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, and Donnie Yen will all provide supporting roles.

Rogue One will drop on December 16th.
