Square Enix Announces Special E3 Showcase Presentation

Square Enix have announced that they’re hosting their own E3 Showcase event on Monday 11th June at 10pm PDT/1pm EDT/ 6pm BST, and it’ll consist of a “special video presentation” that’ll “reveal the exciting future of Square Enix”. Perhaps this future might also contain Final Fantasy VII Remake. That’ll be something, right?

No games have been confirmed as of yet for the event, which will be streamed on YouTube, Twitch and Mixer, but we can always speculate. The safest bet of all will be Kingdom Hearts 3 featuring prominently, as it’s still scheduled for release at some point this year. We’ll give Square Enix massive props if it reveals Thanos to be the game’s primary villain. Also in the world of RPGs, we’ve got Final Fantasy VII Remake, which has also been in development for an eternity. Perhaps E3 is time for it to re-emerge.

As for some more leftfield picks, Square Enix announced Left Alive at Tokyo Game Show last year, a “survival action shooter” set in the world of Front Mission, more specifically between Front Mission 5 and Front Mission Evolved. Meanwhile, we’re still waiting to hear and see anything truly substantial about the Avengers project Square Enix have been working on, which was announced in January of last year, so it’s entirely possible we see The Avengers assembling at the Square Enix showcase. Again, if Thanos shows up, massive props.
