Current WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura posted a very strange tweet suggesting that he could be leaving WWE in the near future. The tweet in question was hastily removed after posting, however a Reddit user was quickly able to screenshot the post and reveal it to the world.
Nakamura simply wrote, “See you, my friends”, a cryptic and vague message to his fans and colleagues that could lead to many potential assumptions. Considering that Nakamura is holding onto SmackDown Live’s secondary championship, it would seem a strange time for him to depart from the company, unless there are plans to take the title away from him before the end of the year.
Speculation has led to fans assuming that this could be a message to both Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly, who both made their final farewells to the NXT brand on last night’s episode of TV. However if that was indeed the case, then why would Nakamura delete it so quickly?
Shinsuke Nakamura hasn’t commented on the matter since and neither have WWE.
