Now Even Rockstar Games Have Their Own Launcher, Free San Andreas

But...they don't make many new games.

In news that should surprise nobody, what with the fact that every big name in gaming seemingly now wants one, Rockstar Games now has their very own launcher for PC games.

The cannily called Rockstar Games Launcher will allow you to buy and download some of Rockstar’s greatest hits, which I sincerely hope includes Rockstar Table Tennis: the greatest sports game of all time.

To sweeten the deal, you can pick up a copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for nothing for a limited time from the Rockstar Games Launcher.

The free download can be found by visiting the Social Club, after which you will have to log in using your credentials or with a new account. I am currently downloading and installing the launcher as we speak, but its touted features include cloud saving and auto-updates for games.

A betting man would likely suggest that Rockstar have released this launcher to cut Steam out of a fee for the eventual PC release of Red Dead Redemption 2, but I am not a betting man.

UPDATED: This is an odd launcher. San Andreas and GTA V appear in your library as if bought, yet they aren’t. I own a few GTA games on Steam, so I expect the Rockstar launcher will auto-populate with those games if I were to install them as they aren’t showing up currently without installation.

To download San Andreas, it’s just two clicks from the store and you are pretty much done.

The games available to buy are pretty meager, a handful of GTA games, Bully, LA Noire and Max Payne 3, along with, of course, Shark Cards. There is no Table Tennis. To hell with it.
