Review Round-Up: The Order: 1886, Cavalry, Rogue Legacy & More

The Order: 1886

As a wise man once said, “Jesus Christ, how is it Wednesday already?”. Time is a fickle mistress, whether you’re having the time of your life (and also never felt this way before) or counting down the seconds until you can clock out of work, time controls all of us.

So that’s why you should cast your eyes over our quick and no-nonsense reviews below. Are you sat on the toilet at work? You’re reading the right article, my friend.

The Order: 1886 (PS4)

A flawlessly beautiful game on the outside but one with ancient mechanics and too much self-indulgence on the inside, this game is the definition of a disappointment. Wait until its price lowers or rent it if you’re curious, it’s still worth a play.

Verdict: 6.5/10

Rogue Legacy (PS4)

Who would have thought that the third-choice free Playstation Plus game for February could turn out to be one of the best on the system? Rogue Legacy is a brutal experience that adapts as you play and should not be missed – I’m 20 hours in and I still can’t beat the third boss.

Verdict: 9.5/10

Flight (2012)

A return to form from Denzel Washington as he puts aside his stereotypical gunman roles of late to remind us that he still has chops. An emotive and sincere performance elevates the film to new heights but don’t expect to like the man he portrays.

Verdict: 8/10

Cavalry (2014)

It’s an absolute crime that the talents of Brendan Gleeson aren’t appreciated as widely as they should be. His performance as a priest with a death threat looming over his head is one of the best that I can remember in recent memory and the black comedy aspects of the film suit him down to the ground.

Verdict: 8.5/10

Transistor (PS4)

Transistor game

Another free PS Plus game for February that didn’t disappoint, Transistor has that rare substance to go with its plentiful style. A feeling of repetition sets in a little early, but it deserves your attention nonetheless – pick it up if you’re looking for something different.

Verdict: 7/10
