Resident Evil Remastered Coming to Next-Gen Consoles

Resident Evil

The dream of seeing Barry Burton on our televisions screens once again is to become a reality: Resident Evil will be remastered for next-gen consoles in 2015.

Originally released in 19996 but updated in 2002 for the Gamecube, this newest gloss of paint on the seminal horror game will be based on the latter. Playstation 4 and Xbox One owners can look forward to a full 1080p resolution and Playstation 3 and 360 owners can endure 720p, the shame of it.

The original Resident Evil is as well known for its terrifying gameplay as it is its terrible voice acting so whether Capcom will opt for voice actors that actually sound like humans this time out will be interesting to see. The controls will also be updated but players have the option to revert to the classic and clunky.

Created by Shinji Mikami, also the creator of the hotly-anticipated The Evil Within, the series has gone on to spawn many sequels and spin-offs in the almost two decades since. No doubt you will have come across the shameful series of zombie films that have come out with the Resident Evil name on and just a hint of relation to the source material. There have been about eighty of them after all.

What do you think? New dog old tricks or a spit polish that the entry really needs? Maybe you don’t care? Let us know!
