Despite being considered one of the elder statesman of the current crop of popular multiplayer shooters, Rainbow Six Siege still finds itself in contention among the most played games. Despite its age, Siege maintains a healthy population of loyal players, thanks to its excellent mechanics and tactical gameplay. However, not everyone can play with their friends online, as some rely on split-screen in order to experience multiplayer.
Unfortunately, you can’t play Rainbow Six Siege in split-screen multiplayer, as Siege is limited to just online multiplayer. You can’t enjoy the co-op or solo Training Grounds modes in split-screen, nor can you have two players on the same console join an online multiplayer game. If you want to play Siege with your friends, you’re going to need separate consoles or PCs in order to do so.
Split-screen multiplayer was a typically staple feature of first person shooters before the advent and popularisation of online gaming. Nowadays, most FPS games with multiplayer focus more on online play than anything local, and Rainbow Six Siege is certainly no exception. While it’s worth noting that, due to the nature of how Siege is played, split-screen multiplayer either wouldn’t work or would be rife with screen peeking.
Rainbow Six Siege is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, and Xbox One.
