Rainbow Six Siege: How To Enable and Disable Voice Chat

As a team-based, tactical FPS, it’s important to be able to communicate with your teammates in Rainbow Six Siege, but given how toxic people can get in competitive multiplayer games as well, it’s also important to know how to turn those functions off. Fortunately, for those new to the Rainbow Six Siege experience, we’re here to help you out. Here’s how you can enable disable voice chat in Rainbow Six Siege.

In Siege, voice chat should be enabled by default. If you’ve not touched any of the settings before, it’s probably more of a hardware or system issue. Don’t forget that it’s very easy to accidentally mute yourself on PS5 with the DualSense. On Xbox, a privacy issue may be preventing you from chatting to other players, or On PC, make sure your input is set up correctly by going to System > Sound > Input and trouble shooting there.

Weirdly, there’s no actual toggle setting on Rainbow Six Siege to disable voice chat completely, but there is an option to adjust the voice chat volume. To do so, you need to head into the options menu when on the main menu, then access the Audio tab. From here, you can adjust the voice chat volume setting from 0-100, with 0 being the setting to mute voice chat entirely. Perfect for if you don’t want to deal with the little screamers in your lobby.

If you don’t want to hear the voices, but still want to ensure you’re aware of any callouts that might occur, you can enable the speech to text setting in the accessibility tab of the options menu. Enabling this setting will disable voice chat by default, but will convert all the speech made into text so you can stay up to speed with where the enemy is hiding.

Rainbow Six Siege is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, and Xbox One.
