The bike is a staple feature of every Pokémon game since Generation I, with it allowing you to explore the world faster than your Pokémon Trainer’s little legs can carry you. However, in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the way the bike works is slightly different in the sense that there actually isn’t one.
Instead, players have an alternative to the bike: the legendary Pokémon they meet early on in the game. In Scarlet, it’s Koraidon, and in Violet, it’s Moraidon. Whichever version you choose determines which legendary becomes your mount.
As for actually unlocking them to use as a mount, you must first make a little bit of progress in the main story and get to Mesagoza and complete your first day at school. Just as you’re about to set out on the Treasure Hunt and explore the open world of Paldea, your special friend will come out of their Ball and allow you to use them as a mount by pressing +. You will now be able to navigate around Paldea at a quicker pace, but bear in mind that you can’t enter photo mode.
