The LinkedIn profile of the Activision Blizzard Studios co-president Nick van Dyk has revealed that animated versions of Blizzard titles Diablo and Overwatch are currently in the works. Previously, Nick was a producer on the Netflix series Skylanders Academy.
As reported by Gamespot, Nick’s profile, which is now private, stated that Diablo will be getting an anime-style show in a similar style to that of Castlevania, and it’ll be released through Netflix. As for Overwatch, his profile merely states that he has “developed and sold an animated series based on Blizzard’s Overwatch franchise”. There are no details regarding how this series will be distributed, but let’s cross our fingers for a Netflix launch.
Both series adaptations have been rumoured for a while now, but this is the first time more concrete details have emerged. Nick’s LinkedIn profile unfortunately doesn’t mention if the Overwatch series will also be rendered in an anime-style, or if it’ll feature the same CGI treatment that the Overwatch shorts have in the past.
