Outlast 2 and 5 More of the Biggest Video Game Releases This Week

outlast-2

After one of the most hectic starts to the video game calendar in recent memory, we’re now in a bit of a AAA lull. While it may be time for people to start saving their money for the next onslaught of releases, there’s plenty of smaller fare to loosen the wallet for.

In fact, there are a couple out this week that bridge the gap between indie and AAA: titles that have near to the production qualities of a Ubisoft or EA while also retaining an independent feel. Let’s dig into them.

Outlast 2 – April 25th

Outlast 2

Available on: PS4, Xbox One, PC

The sequel to one of the best horror games of recent times, Outlast 2 changes the setting from the claustrophobia of an asylum to the unwelcoming southern outdoors. Red Barrels have taken their time with this one, so here’s hoping it pays off. Expect to see our review tomorrow.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 – April 25th

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3

Available one: PS4, Xbox One, PC

The more serious alternative to Sniper Elite 4, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 takes the action to an open-world and looks like one of the most immersive ways of living out your dream of being that cool religious guy in Saving Private Ryan. Our review won’t be far away for this one, either.

Syberia 3 – April 25th

Available on: PS4, Xbox One, PC

A sequel that looked like it was never going to happen at one point, Syberia 3 represents a return to the story-driven world of Benoit Sokal’s making. It’s a point and click adventure, so it may not appeal to everyone, but if you need something at a slower tempo, this looks like a safe bet for giving you just that.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3 – April 27th

Available on: PC

Ten years after the original game, Dawn of War is back. There’s plenty of excitement about one of the most accomplished RTS games of all-time making a return, so write April 27th in your diary and prepare the excuses for work as to why you need a week off. Tell them your dog ate your shoes; you have to go in hard with this one.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – April 28th

Available on: Nintendo Switch

Not the new Mario Kart that the Switch arguably need, but a port that’s already getting a lot of love from critics nonetheless. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes one of the best Wii U games ever made, gives it a polish, and adds to a list of slowly-growing essentials for Nintendo’s newest console. We aren’t going to be reviewing this one, but it’s Mario Kart – you know exactly what it’s going to be like and how it’s going to tear your family apart.

Little Nightmares – April 28th

Available on: Xbox One, PS4, PC

What would happen if LittleBigPlanet had a life-changing dinner date with Wes Craven, Little Nightmares is one of the creepiest horror games of the year, already receiving critical acclaim ahead of launch. It looks gorgeous and seems to stand out in a crowded pack, so take a closer look at this one if you can. We’re preparing to review Little Nightmares, so check back to read our thoughts soon.
