In a culmination of what has to be one of the worst kept secrets in gaming, at least for this year, Capcom have finally announced that the long-awaited Okami HD will be released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on December 12th.

The original release back in 2006 was heralded as possibly the most beautiful and visually stunning games to have ever been released, which is arguably a title that Okami is still in the running for. Okami HD will turn things up to 11 on the graphical front, with confirmed 4K support for Xbox One X, PS4 Pro and those powerful PC rigs that your mates keep bragging about.

If you’re unfamiliar with the original game, get educated. Buy a PS2 now, and get Okami. Play it until your fingers bleed, and become enchanted by how magical it is. It’s a Zelda-like adventure game where you play as the Sun God Amaterasu, who inhabits the legendary white wolf Shiranui. Together, you must battle the evil demon Orochi, who is responsible for turning the world into a horrid wasteland. Using your Celestial Brush, you can transform the world at your will, wiping away the corruption that plagues the land and restoring Nippon to its former glory.

Those of you who like to live in nostalgia can opt to play the game in its original 4:3 aspect ratio, which is nice, I guess. Give me widescreen any day. Okami HD will launch for the ludicrously cheap price of £15.99/€19.99/$19.99 on December 12th, and it can’t come soon enough. If this announcement trailer isn’t enough to sell you on this remaster, then quite frankly you are just dead on the inside.
