Nintendo Direct September 2021: Where To Watch, Games & More

Direct season is always a magical time.

Nintendo Direct

Just as sure as the sun will rise in the morning, Nintendo have announced a brand new Nintendo Direct presentation, where the company will reveal a host of new games coming to the Switch in the near future, as well as provide new details on games we already know about. Here’s everything you need to know about how to tune in to Nintendo’s presentation.

Nintendo Direct September 2021 Showcase Time and Date

The Nintendo Direct will start at 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 11pm BST on September 23rd, 2021, and is expected to last for around 40 minutes, which is a standard length for a Direct. It’s a bit late though in the UK, honestly. 11pm showcases are brutal.

Where Can I Watch The Nintendo Direct?

Nintendo’s presentations are typically livestreamed on their YouTube channel, with a full upload usually arriving not long afterwards. If you want to catch up on what’ll be showcased, your best bet is through Nintendo’s own YouTube channel.

The announcement tweet has already confirmed that the presentation will include roughly 40 minutes of information and footage that’s mainly focused on the games that’ll be launching on the Nintendo Switch from now until the end of the year. This likely means that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 won’t be featured too heavily, if at all.

As for what will be there, rumours have been swirling for a few days that Nintendo are on the cusp of revealing a new controller of some kind, so a Nintendo Direct seems like the optimal place to do it. These rumours go hand-in-hand with reports that Nintendo will also bolster the Switch’s emulation library with Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. Based on this news alone, it could be an exciting Direct to watch.

On the games front, it’s tough to predict what new games will be announced. In my heart of hearts, I’m eternally hopeful for some kind of F-Zero GX port, but failing that, we might see another Zelda port to celebrate the franchise’s 35th anniversary. Wind Waker would be a good shout, especially if it’s the Wii U version, but there’s also Twilight Princess, Majora’s Mask and Ocarina of Time. Then again, the last two would probably be banner additions to a potential N64 emulator.

Another solid prediction is the announcement of Alan Wake Remastered coming to the Switch, as it was recently leaked via a Brazilian Ratings Board that the game would be coming to the Switch. It’s not clear whether it’d be a scaled-down port, or a cloud version of Alan Wake, though given Remedy have experience with porting Control to the Switch as a cloud version, it’s likely that it would be latter.
