Neymar to PSG Gives Konami Headache Over PES 2018 Cover

With Neymar’s move from Barcelona to PSG for more money than I even want to type looming, it’s time for marketers to scramble and airbrush the Brazilian star out of a Barcelona shirt, Konami included.

To bolster the appeal of PES 2018 and to somehow try to make a dent in FIFA’s domination of simulated-football-that-isn’t-really-football, Konami snapped up a bunch of team licenses but gave special preference to Barcelona, adorning their players on the game’s covers.

Neymar is one of those players.

PES 2018

The FC Barcelona Edition is a special edition of the game that comes with added content and a whole bunch of Barca players looking suitably like they play for Barca on the front. With Neymar’s transfer almost certain to be completed within the next few days, somebody might need to get the eraser out on Microsoft Paint.

However, it’s worth bearing in mind that the standard cover for PES 2018 features Luiz Suarez, who’s likely to stick around unless he bites someone’s face off, the bloody villain.

With PES’s release date still so far away, at least they have ample time to swap Neymar out for another Barcelona player – Deulofeu, maybe?

PES 2018 will be released on September 12th for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC, the latter of which has been promised as being up to the current-gen’s standards after years of sloppy ports.
