There’s quite a lot customisation afoot in New Pokémon Snap, even if there’s unfortunately no way of changing your photographer’s appearance in the game. Luckily, though, you can change your name, and it’s very easy.

When you first load New Pokémon Snap, you will be asked to set your name, which will be your profile name on the Switch itself by default.

To change your name in New Pokémon Snap, you must finish your first photography session and then go to Lab > Your Space, and then select your name at the top right. Press A and then you will have the option to input any name.

You can do this as many times as you like, but bear in mind that any non-PG names won’t be looked on too kindly by Nintendo. With the game’s social integration, it won’t look good for them if the photos with the most Sweet medals has an obscene name, so you might risk a ban.

However, having something like Magikarpbae69 as your Snap name is not only fine by us, but also actively promoted.

New Pokémon Snap is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
