New PlayStation App Update Brings Needed Changes

PS4 App updates

I‘ve had the PlayStation app for Android for the longest time and I don’t think it has ever been a smoothed experience. Each time I’ve loaded it up, I have run into some issues, whether that’s it not connecting to the services I need it to (Remote Play has never worked) or just outright dying on me.

After plenty of feedback, Sony have today rolled out an update for the PlayStation app that should fix some of the biggest problems some were coming up against. Here are the changes for the iOS and Android versions, as per the press release:

What’s New – Stay up to date on activities and posts from friends and news from PlayStation as well as influencers, developers and community managers that you follow.

Friends – View friends and their online statuses as well as discover ‘players you may know’ or ‘who to follow.’

Profile – Learn more about your friends and share more about you with richer profiles which reveal your games list, joined communities, activities, friends and more.

Notifications – Easily check messages from PlayStation, game and party invitations, game alerts, friend requests, events and more.

PlayStation Button – Quickly access PlayStation(TM)Store and popular features including events, trophies, and code redemption as well as other apps from PlayStation such as PlayStation(R)4 Second Screen, PlayStation(R)Messages, PlayStation Communities and more.

I’ve had a little fiddle with the updated app, and it definitely feels smoother and a little easier on the eye. Do wish they would consolidate all PlayStation apps into one thing, though. Still struggling to see the purpose of sequestering messaging off into its own app, but this app at least let’s you see your messages.

Sony mentioned that they will continue to monitor feedback on the app for future updates, so be sure to let them know your thoughts.
