Announced earlier this year, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is the newest Funcom game (famous for The Secret World and Conan: Unchained), developed by former lead developers for Hitman and the designer of Payday, and it’s out today.
The game is made up of turn-based strategy and real-time stealth, mixing up the XCOM gameplay format that strategy fans know all too well with something different. The more damage you do to enemies in stealth mode with stealth weapons, the better, because once they know you’re there, they call for help. Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden boasts a wide range of characters with different personalities that promise to spice up the whole thing, too.
Abilities in the game come in the form of mutations, adding another layer of lore to the gameplay that is not often utilized in such a way. It’s refreshing, especially in a genre where upgrades are usually done similarly between games.
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden releases today (December 4) at $34.99 for the standard edition, or $54.99 if you go for the deluxe edition.
