Music Video Released For Hamilton Mixtape’s “Immigrants” Track

"It’s a hard line when you’re an import..."

Below you can view the just-released music video for The Hamilton Mixtape‘s “Immigrants (We Get the Job Done)” track, starring Riz Ahmed (Riz MC), Residente, and Snow Tha Product:

If you’re not aware of The Hamilton Mixtape, it’s a rap/hip-hop album comprised of 23 songs based around hits from Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton musical. Full of guest voices from stars like Usher, The Roots, Wiz Khalifa, Chance The Rapper and more, it’s definitely worth a listen if you’re curious about the themes of Hamilton, or if you’re a fan of rap/hip hop who hasn’t given the mixtape a listen yet.

“Immigrants (We Get The Job Done)” takes its name from a Hamilton track called “Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down)”, in which Alexander Hamilton and Marquis de Lafayette celebrate their victory at the 1781 Siege of Yorktown. It’s a song that reminds the listener that its hero and his friends were born outside of the US but became American heroes, and the mixtape track serves to highlight the problems and struggles facing US immigrants today.

“Immigrants (We Get the Job Done)” is an important, timely listen and the music video might be hard for some to watch, highlighting how many immigrants are actually refugees who are fleeing war-torn nations and are simply desperate for help from other countries.

Right now, it’s unknown if the other tracks from The Hamilton Mixtape will be getting their own music videos, but I pray that they will, due to the important messages and themes that Miranda and co. highlight throughout the mix.
