NetherRealm Studios have released a new trailer for their upcoming competitive Mortal Kombat 11 mode, Kombat League. While Ranked Play already exists in Mortal Kombat 11, the Kombat League mode is a special seasonal event where players compete to progress through the ranks to earn new items, and it’s available tomorrow to all players. Check out the new video below.

Kombat League is a four week seasonal event that offers exclusive items and gear to players who are skilled enough to rise through the 9 ranks from Apprentice to Elder God. Each rank offers its own set of items and gear, and rewards are cumulative based on your highest achieved rank, so you don’t have to worry about losing that exclusive Erron Black skin if you get demoted by some online ranked beast lurking on the servers.

That said, you should encounter those beasts less frequently, as NetherRealm are stating that the Kombat League will utilise an optimised matchmaking system to ensure that players of the same or similar rank are paired together, and you’ll also be able to see your odds of winning a match beforehand.

During the four weeks, players will be able to complete numerous daily and seasonal challenges to earn extra items and gear, and this first season will immediately transition into season 2 once those four weeks are up. That said, if you’re not interested in competitive online play, Shang Tsung will also be available to Kombat Pass owners, so you’ll be able to practice your shapeshifting magic combos from tomorrow. Will you be entering the Kombat League? Sound off in the comments.
