Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Launching May 26th, Includes RoboCop

Come quietly or there will be... trouble.

Mortal Kombat 11

NetherRealm Studios have announced Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, a huge content update for last year’s incredibly successful fighting game. Aftermath will add both paid for and free content for all players, and will launch on May 26th for all players. Check out the debut trailer below.

Aftermath includes a brand new narrative campaign that follows on from the end of Mortal Kombat 11’s story. The story will see Raiden and Fire God Liu Kang seemingly team up with Shang Tsung and returning characters Fujin and Sheeva, as they try to steal Kronika’s crown to properly rewrite history. Considering Shang Tsung is typically a villain though, I’d be shocked if this “Deadly Alliance” lasted.

As mentioned, series legends Sheeva and Fujin will become playable characters along with a brand new guest character: Detroit’s own RoboCop. Finally, players will be able to recreate that one Epic Rap Battles of History video in Mortal Kombat 11, as RoboCop can go toe-to-toe with The Terminator.

On top of all this new purchasable content, May 26th will also see a free update launch, which will add a host of new stages to the game, including classics like the Dead Pool and Soul Chamber, along with plenty of stage fatalities. Also, we’ll finally be receiving the Friendship finishers, with the trailer showing Scorpion hooking a giant teddy bear. It’ll warm your heart.

If you haven’t played Mortal Kombat 11 yet, an Aftermath Kollection will launch on May 26th, including the base game, the Kombat Pack and the Aftermath content. Personally, I’m hoping that we’ll see a little bit more content for MK 11 post Aftermath, but if this is the final major content update, it seems like a fitting swansong for a fighting game already dripping in fan-service.
