Mortal Kombat 1 has finally arrived, bringing with it a New Era of people punching each other’s heads off for the amusement of us, the fighting game lovers around the world. While Mortal Kombat 1 depicts a rebooted world of MK, with updated origins for the roster and new wrinkles on old and established rivalries, there’s still some things that have been added from previous games.
One feature that was pretty popular in Mortal Kombat 11 was the Johnny Cage Announcer Pack, which replaced the traditional gruff voiced announcer with Johnny Cage’s sarcastic and silly humour. Naturally, that feature is available once again, but you’ll need to unlock it in order to access Johnny Cage’s dulcet tones. With that in mind, this is what you need to know to unlock the Johnny Cage announcer pack.
In order to unlock the Johnny Cage announcer pack, you’ll need to complete the Invasions Mode tutorial, which introduces you to the game’s mechanics while you explore Cage’s Mansion. As progress through the levels, you’ll reach an encounter called “Ugly Me”, in which you’ll face off against an alternate universe version of Cage. Defeat him in kombat and you’ll unlock a host of rewards, including a new outfit for Cage and the Johnny Cage announcer pack, which you can equip in the game’s settings menu under Video & Audio.
While the Ugly Me encounter is the last mission in Cage’s Mansion, make sure you don’t take The Portal afterwards immediately, as that’ll take you straight into the Invasions mode proper, and you’ll miss out on the chance for more rewards. After completing Ugly Me, you can head to Cage’s arcade to trigger a Test Your Might event and unlock more rewards, and afterwards, you’ll be able to head to his dojo for even more rewards.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available now if you buy the special edition, otherwise MK1 will launch on September 19th for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X & S and Nintendo Switch.
