Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth – How To Unlock Poundmates

One of the core staple of a turn-based RPG is the ability to summon in powerful creatures to lay waste to your foes. While Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth might be based in the real world, that doesn’t mean you can’t summon in some help during the game’s many battles, and you’ll be able to do that with Poundmates. Fortunately for those who’ve just started the game, you’ll unlock the Poundmates feature fairly early on.

Poundmates, the Like A Dragon equivalent of Summons, are unlocked automatically as part of the main story. While searching for Chitose in the middle of Chapter 3, you’ll be given a tip about Chitose from a homeless man, who implores you to call a certain number. Of course, instead of the Chitose that Ichiban first met in Chapter 2, you’ll instead run into Chitose Buster Holmes, the daughter of franchise regular Gary Buster Holmes. After teaming with CBH to crack some heads, you’ll unlock the Poundmates feature going forward.

Poundmates function mostly the same in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth as they did in Yakuza: Like A Dragon. For the cost of a not insignificant amount of money, you can summon in one of the various friends you’ve made during your adventure to do massive amounts of damage to your foes. Poundmates summons come in many different shapes and sizes, but the general rule is that the more expensive the summon is, the more damaging or impactful it’ll be. You can also spend even more money when calling in a summon to improve its effectiveness, though this can be very expensive to do.

Like Julie’s Gearworks, Poundmates also improves the more money you invest into it, as using the service often will upgrade the benefits available to you, such as the ability to improve a summon’s effectiveness. You can also unlock new Poundmates summons through various means, though the most common are for making your way through the story and completing certain substories.

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
