Those who have played the Like A Dragon series before will know the pain of trying to learn classic Asian tabletop games like Shogi or Mahjong in order to earn full completions. In more recent entries, RGG Studio have added options like Puzzle Shogi, another way to earn in-game rewards without actually trying to learn the mechanics and rules of Shogi.
Actually solving the puzzles themselves though can be a case of trial and error, so luckily for you, we’ve done the work to let you know what the Puzzle Shogi solutions are in Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Here’s what you need to know about solving all 10 instances of Puzzle Shogi.
How To Solve All Puzzle Shogi Problems
Players in Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name can enjoy Shogi as soon as Chapter 1, as there’s a place to play Shogi in Yokohama. However, the majority of the game is spent in Sotenbori, and the Shogi player in that town can be found in the southern part of the city. Simply speak to the player and select Puzzle Shogi to get started. Completing the puzzles will give you points that can be spent with that player on select rewards, including some decent Gear, or Platinum Plates that can be sold at the Pawn Shop for an instant cash injection.
For these solutions, we’ll be referring to the game pieces as they’re referred to in-game via the Shogi tutorial, so be sure to look through that to familiarise yourself with the pieces. Still, the pieces are marked with the first initial of their name though. With that out of the way, here’s all the solutions to Puzzle Shogi in Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
Puzzle 1 – Move your Gold General to between the enemy King and your Silver General.
Puzzle 2 – Move the captured Silver General (in the box on the right hand side of the screen) to the square down and to the right of the Enemy King.

Puzzle 9 – Turn 1) Use your Silver General that’s sat above the Enemy King to capture the Enemy Gold General that’s down and to the left of your Silver General. This will cause the Enemy King to move one space to the right. Turn 2) Move the captured Gold General, and place it directly in front of the Enemy King.
Puzzle 10 – Turn 1) Place your Knight in the space between the three Enemy Pawns, just below the Enemy King. This will force the King to move down and to the left. Turn 2) Move your promoted Bishop one space to the right.
