It’s a franchise tradition with Yakuza/Like A Dragon at this point where if you complete a set amount of conditions, you unlock a megahard boss fight against some dude called Amon. Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is no exception to this rule, as you can square off against the Amon Clan in Kiryu’s latest adventure once again, but if you’re looking for the shortcut on how to get there, here’s what you need to know to unlock the Amon fight in Like A Dragon Gaiden.

In order to be challenged by Amon, you need to complete every single fight in the Coliseum. This means you’ll need to hit the following criteria:

– Reaching Platinum Rank by hitting level 20 on the Akame Network and winning three Gold Rank fights
– Beat the Coliseum storyline that unlocks in Chapter 4 which sees you squaring off against the Four Kings of the Castle and the shady underworld group backing them.
– Beat every fight in all four Coliseum categories, including the special matches that unlock after beating the Four Kings such as the Minamada GP

Once you’ve conquered everything that the Coliseum has to offer, you’ll be challenged by a rather metallic member of the Amon Clan, Tetsu, who has amassed a robot army to challenge you to a Hell Team Rumble match. At this point, you should have a team of max level brawlers ready to lay the smackdown, so pick your strongest fights and speak to him at the Coliseum reception. In an Amon Clan change from the norm, this fight is actually quite easy with high level fighters, but be sure to use the Agent fighting style as Kiryu to damage multiple opponents quickly.

After defeating Tetsu, the real problems begin. Gai Amon makes his presence known and challenges Kiryu to a straight 1v1 brawl. He’s waiting for you at the Helipad of the Castle, so you have time to prepare for what is without a doubt the toughest fight in the whole game. Gai utilises pretty much all of the boss gadgets you’ve encountered throughout the game, including the Spider grapple, explosives and more. Most annoyingly though, he boasts a massive health pool, and is consistently being healed throughout the fight. It’s impossible to chip away at Gai, because he just heals back pretty quickly.

As for strategy in this brutal fight, there’s a couple of options to consider. If you’re a dab hand at landing Tiger Drops, they can be a risky yet effective way of dealing good amounts of damage to Gai. However, the most effective way of taking him down we’ve encountered is by using as many different heat attacks as possible. Heat attacks deal considerably less damage if they’re used more than once in a fight, so you’ll need to try and engineer different scenarios to hit as many heat attacks as possible. Go into the fight with a full bar of Heat, a pocket full of Staminans/Tauriners, and just hope for the best.

Failing that, you could also just drop the difficulty to Easy if you’re playing on Normal or above. You’ll get the achievement/trophy for beating Amon either way.
